EGMS: the European service
Consistent, reliable information on natural and human-induced ground motion, derived from Sentinel-1 InSAR, with millimeter precision, annual updates, and free access.
EU-27 + UK, Norway, and Iceland
Is the ground moving under your infrastructure? Since 2022, Europe measures it with millimeter precision and publishes it for free. We build the system that watches your assets and warns you when a trend changes.

The European Ground Motion Service (EGMS), part of the Copernicus land component, with the technique and applications the service itself declares.

Persistent and distributed scatterers (PSI/DS) in three product levels: Basic, Calibrated (calibrated with GNSS), and Ortho, with vertical and east-west components on a 100 m grid.

The service itself lists infrastructure monitoring (dams, bridges, railways, buildings), urban planning, and landslide and subsidence risk.

When the ground gave way in Thessaly, EGMS measured the subsidence of each earthquake from orbit. The same technique tracks trends of a few millimeters per year on dams, rail lines, and neighborhoods: the key is turning them into warnings before damage appears.
Today, EGMS is consulted point by point in a viewer. We turn it into monitoring: we ingest the deformation series over your assets, cross them with your inventory, and, where you need more frequency or better verticals, we combine them with our own GNSS in the field. The result is a panel with trends per asset, thresholds agreed with you, and alerts when the ground accelerates, connected to your maintenance system through an API or MCP.
InSAR compares Sentinel-1 radar passes over the same spot and measures how much the ground has moved, down to the millimeter. Over your dam, your rail section, or your neighborhood, you get the deformation speed in millimeters per year at each measured point. You see at a glance which areas hold still and which ones sink or rise.
EGMS · InSAR · mm/year per point
We agree with you on a sensible speed threshold for each asset. The system watches the series and, when a point crosses it or changes pace, the alert reaches your maintenance team. You act on an early trend, before the motion turns into a crack or a settlement.
threshold per asset · alert on crossing
Each critical asset gets its own sheet: the deformation series of recent years, the trend, and how it compares with the surrounding average. It is the document you bring to an inspection, a maintenance plan, or an insurance file. The measurement from orbit becomes a tidy, comparable record.
