AMS: the CAP is monitored from space

The area monitoring system (Reg. (EU) 2021/2116 and Implementing Reg. 2022/1173) covers all of Spain except the Canary Islands, Ceuta, and Melilla. Implementing Reg. (EU) 2026/148 unifies the quality assessments.

Since 2025, geotagged photos count as data in the monitoring process: an appeal is defended with georeferenced evidence taken from a phone.

Monitoring, in numbers

A multi-file panel that reproduces the traffic light with Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 before the official notice arrives: green, amber, or red on every declared parcel; the declared crop in SIGPAC crossed with what the satellite observes; and the appeal package (geotagged photos included) ready to submit. For co-ops and farm managers, connected to your files through an API or MCP; for administrations, as a campaign tool.

The declared crop against what the satellite sees

We cross the crop you declared in SIGPAC (the official parcel base) with the classification that comes from the Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 series, because each crop has its own growth signature across the year. The result is a traffic light per parcel: green, amber, or red. You see which parcels point to an issue and review them before the notice arrives.

An activity marker with a date

Monitoring does not only look at what is there, but at whether the work was done: a mowing, a harvest, or tillage leaves a drop in the time series. Sentinel-1 radar catches it even under clouds, because it does not depend on sunlight. With that we confirm the activity the aid requires happened, and we record when.

An appeal file with dated evidence

Since 2025, geotagged photos count as data in monitoring. We prepare the appeal package by joining the satellite series with georeferenced, dated photos taken from a phone on the parcel itself. The appeal arrives backed by evidence, not just explanations.
